ACADEMY TRAINING

Academy Training offers clients in-depth classes presented in a lecture-style format. These online classes instruct end-users on PDS products including PDS iMPower and PDS DASH, and PDS best practices for Patient Access, Denials Management, Benchmarking, and more. We also offer Academy Training Courses on other leading analytics platforms such as IBM Cognos, MicroStrategy, and Tableau.

The class offerings range from beginner classes for new users just learning the tools or those who need a refresher, to advanced classes for users looking to learn the advanced functionality of PDS solutions. Best practices in Excel, web-based dashboard design, reporting, and PDS data sets are examples of the topics covered. Our specific class areas of focus change quarterly and are listed in each Academy Training class description below.

WORKSHOPS

Our online Workshops provide a high-level overview and understanding of Practical Data Solutions (PDS) products and specific trends in data analytics for healthcare organizations. Generally 45 minutes in length, these sessions are designed to acquaint attendees with PDS best practices in data modeling, reporting, and visualization and how to maximize the value of analytic products and solutions.

CUSTOM TRAINING

Custom training is available for new clients as part of implementation, or upon client request. These classes deliver the most in-depth and hands-on experience in the PDS Education Program. Client-specific classes are highly interactive with time allotted for specific exercises using the organization’s data set. We can design a specific curriculum for your organization’s unique needs.

Whether you are a new or existing PDS iMPower professional user, this Academy Training will cover the topics needed to create advanced reports. Understand how to create non-cube reports and utilize advanced filters. Learn to create prompts that allow users to filter reports on the fly easily. Custom groups will be reviewed, which allows you to group attributes with various criteria to bring report creation to the next level. A variety of advanced formatting options are also covered, including advanced thresholds that will provide the flexibility to personalize reports based on an attribute or metric qualification.

PDS Workshop: Applying Benchmarks to Your Dashboards

Benchmarking can be an effective strategy for providing context to a practice’s data and drive performance within the organization. This workshop will discuss the different types of available benchmarks and the appropriate times to use them. PDS Academy Training* – Tableau I & II

Learn everything you need to know about Tableau visualization by mastering the skills you need to create visual web dashboards that function as powerful analytic tools. Class I will take you through the basics of navigating the visual tool and creating worksheets, the building blocks of web dashboards. You will discover how to build and format multiple visualization types to best display data and report on performance. In Class II, you will learn how to use Tableau’s powerful capabilities to combine multiple worksheets and visualizations into a single visual web dashboard as well as how you can enhance your dashboard and speed up analysis with filters and interaction.

PDS Workshop: An Introduction to PDS for New Users

This workshop is for new users, casual users, and managers or executives unfamiliar with the suite of PDS solutions currently in place at their organization. The workshop will cover features and functions of the PDS suite of tools and show the value that these solutions bring to reporting, visualization, and distribution of reports and ad hoc information. The session will also bring attendees up to speed on PDS terminology and overall strategy.

PDS Workshop: Publishing Physician Compensation Reports with a Click

PDS tools are highly effective in calculating and presenting physician compensation data. This workshop will demonstrate how to leverage PDS DASH or PDS iMPower to stage and model various metrics to accurately calculate physician compensation and bonuses. Learn how to create effective visualizations that show physicians their current compensation and projected compensation and design models that analyze the impact of changing compensation plans. Explore building side-by-side reporting so that providers and departments can comprehend compensation changes under a new plan versus the current plan. See how to leverage your existing PDS tools and what modules can be added to make compensation less complex.

PDS DASH I – Academy Training*

This class will cover how to generate Excel-based dashboards using PDS DASH. Topics for Class I include a review of PDS DASH functions, project components, and data source requirements. We will review the concept of Excel templates, index requirements, detail data sources, and the use of cross-references. We will also create sample PDS DASH projects and generate dashboards.

PDS DASH II – Academy Training*

This class will cover how to generate Excel-based dashboards using PDS DASH. In Class II, we will discuss the use of summary data sources, examine delete-from-rows functionality in more detail and review the various job functions. We will also work with modifying different Excel templates for use with PDS DASH.

PDS iMPower Prompted Reports – Academy Training*

A prompted report can easily guide any user through a series of questions, allowing them to get the results they desire without submitting a report request. In addition, prompted reports can minimize the number of reports that need to be created and managed. The training will include a review of the different prompt types and how-to steps for applying the prompts to reports, as well as a review of key items to remember when creating prompted reports.

PDS Workshop: Understanding PDS Patient Access Analytics

Analysis and reporting on your primary scheduling KPIs is critical to your organization’s success. This session will help customers understand the various reporting capabilities inherent in PDS Scheduling and PDS Patient Access (3rd Next and Scheduling Utilization) datasets. Key capabilities include understanding how to identify gaps in patient access, understanding no-show and cancellation probabilities, location and visit-type capacity issues, and how overbooking and blocked schedules can impact accuracy in Patient Access reporting.
